HERVÉ VAN DER STRAETEN

Shape-Shifting Jeweller

Hervé Van der Straeten brings together contemporary and baroque styles, curves and sleek lines, elegance and eclecticism.
HERVÉ VAN DER STRAETEN

Dedicated to preserving the tradition of fine craftsmanship, Van der Straeten helps keep France’s heritage of bronze and cabinetwork alive. His own designs – specially commissioned lighting – can be seen in the Elysée palace.

His “objects interact well with objects from the past,” he explains. His Excess line includes crystal chandeliers and glasses, but his provocative signature style that plays with balance can also be seen in packaging for Guerlain cosmetics and furnishings for stores like Harrods in London.

In addition to marble, crystal and steel, the Parisian designer likes to explore Dacryl or carbon fiber.
